eLab - University of California, Riverside

Welcome to the UCR eLab

The mission of eLab at the University of California, Riverside, founded by Professors Donna Hoffman and Tom Novak, is to provide an innovative research laboratory for the academic study of consumer behavior in online environments.   Professors Hoffman and Novak originally founded eLab at Vanderbilt University in 1994 with seed funding from Paul Allen's Interval Research Corporation.  In 2001, they launched the Sloan Center for Internet Retailing.

In 2006, Hoffman and Novak moved to the University of California, Riverside, bringing along eLab and the Sloan Center for Internet Retailing.  The UCR eLab takes advantage of a set of sophisticated approaches for online research, including multiple online consumer panels, virtual worlds, and Web-based as well as physical lab faciltities for survey and experimental research.

eLab and the UCR Sloan Center for Internet Retailing are supported by grants from the University of California, Riverside, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and corporate partners.
